My name is Selma Vital . I am a Brazilian living outside Brazil for over 20 years now but never disconnected from my language, culture and home country. I have a B.A in Journalism, from Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, and master and doctoral degrees in Portuguese from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I worked as a journalist for over ten years in Brazil in the capacities of editor, reporter and proofreader. I moved to the US, where I pursued graduate studies, and became a lecturer of the Portuguese language. Here I worked respectively at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, at Union College, at Washington University in Saint Louis (for over 7 years), at Yale University and, now, back to the US, as Visting Instructor teaching an online class at Tuskegee University. I relocated to Denmark with my family, where I taught at Aarhus Universitet as a visiting lecturer in two opportunities and worked in writing and translation projects, including the managing and editing of a website in Portuguese about sustainable projects in Brazil: Horizonte Sustentável. I also have been publishing texts on different subjects, some of them at the platform Medium. Claraboia Learning Experiences is the latest project in my career. I teach courses about classroom and online teaching strategies and create material and workshops for teachers. Concomitantly, I I write blog posts and newsletters about the subject. I also create Clarapod, a podcast for teachers, in Portuguese. Please, contact me if interested or if you need further information. |
